What we collect
We collect a name and email address when you request access to The First Year. That form is the only place this site collects personal information.
Why we collect it
We use this information to grant film access, send marketing and project updates about films and screenings, understand aggregate viewing activity, protect the form from abuse, and operate the site.
Film access and marketing
Names and emails collected through the site—including for film access—may be used for marketing about films, screenings, and related project updates. A secure browser cookie remembers access to the film for up to 30 days. It does not create a public profile.
How the details reach the filmmaker
When you unlock the film, your name and email are saved to our subscriber database and also sent to the filmmaker by email so the submission is visible. Email infrastructure may process and temporarily retain that copy according to its own service policies.
Analytics and video
If configured, privacy-conscious analytics records aggregate page views and actions such as video starts and completions. Events do not contain email addresses or form text. Mux processes video delivery requests and may receive technical playback information. We do not use advertising pixels, session replay, fingerprinting, or public viewing histories.
Processors
The currently configured processors are Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Mux (video), Amazon SES (email), Cloudflare Turnstile (spam prevention). Analytics remains disabled unless a provider is configured.
Retention and deletion
Access grants expire after 30 days. Subscriber and consent records are retained until they are no longer operationally necessary or deletion is requested, subject to legal obligations. To request access, correction, or deletion, email hello@lehavdilfilms.com.
Email choices
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe mechanism.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies only where needed for gated viewing and spam protection. Optional analytics should be configured without cross-site advertising cookies.
